The Owners
The Reiss Family
Pia and Alfons Reiss together with their children Julia & Konstanze came to Canada from Germany in 1999. But the family’s passion for horses goes back years. After successfully owning and managing a family resort in North Bay, the drive to get back to living and working with horses became too strong to ignore. In the fall of 2010 the Reiss family became the proud new owners of Huntingford Farm. A farm steeped in over a 150 years of tradition.

Alfons began riding at the age of 18. He too, rode at many different levels of fox hunts in Germany. In addition to his passion for breeding paints, Alfons took time to learn the skill of being a carriage driver. Alfons looks after everything that needs to be taken care of in the stables and arena to ensure the best possible care of the horses in their charge.

Julia, pictured here at 8 years old leading her horse is no stranger to love of horses. Only the love of adventure and travel has taken her career into a different direction as a flight attendant. Julia will be a familiar site around the farm at every opportunity and enjoys western riding.
Konstanze, had no choice but to become a passionate rider. She and Moose have competed at club shows since he was five years old. When Konstanze is not at Carleton University, she is usually found here working and riding around the farm. She has found a new passion of polo and hopes to be competing in future tournaments and in addition competing in the Trillium Hunter/Jumper shows.
